(Associated Press) HONOLULU – Less than a month after the eruptions of Hawaii Kilauea and its larger neighbour Mauna Loa ceased, the US Geological Survey reported that the volcano erupted inside its summit crater on Thursday. A glow in camera photographs indicated Kilauea has started erupting inside Halemaumau Crater in the volcano’s summit crater, according to the agency.
The peak of Kilauea is located far from residential areas inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Early on Thursday, the US Geological Survey upgraded the volcano’s warning level due to indications that magma was surging beneath the top, indicating the possibility of an eruption. One of the world’s most active volcanoes is Kilauea. The duration of the previous eruption, which began in September 2021, was 16 months. for almost two
“It was a beautiful eruption, and lots of people got to see it, and it didn’t take out any major infrastructure and most importantly, it didn’t affect anybody’s life,” said Ken Hon, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory’s scientist in charge.
Mauna Loa lava didn’t pose a threat to any communities but got within 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) of a major highway connecting the east and west sides of the island. A 2018 Kilauea eruption destroyed more than 700 residences.
Visitors to the park at the time could view lava from both eruptions at once. The observatory intends to keep checking the volcanoes for any indications of fresh activity. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory’s chief scientist, Ken Hone, noted that there is often a three-month “cooling-off” period prior to an eruption.

One of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea in Hawaii, is erupting again after a weekslong pause in activity, scientists said.
Lava was confined to a crater and nearby Mauna Loa, the world’s largest active volcano, was not erupting, officials said. https://t.co/W3BI4R4RcR
